Over the past week rumors have swirled that Gm Pumo had been making calls around the league in search of some help for his teams struggling penalty kill. Its no secret that offense has been flowing freely in Boston this season, however being at or near the bottom of the league in killing penalties, Gm Pumo felt it necessary to give his guys.....a Helping hand (Pun Intended). Thus brings us to late last night, after a few days of back and for conversation between Pumo and Gm Pare in Detroit, and a few missed deals along the way, a deal was struck. Boston is sending coveted prospects Colt Coburn and Niklas Holmstrom along with Y1 2nd rnd pick to Det in exchange for the horse they call Rory Helper. We had a chance to get a hold of Pumo and he had this to say "this is a great add for this team, we've been extremely happy with the way this season has started out. But there were areas we felt needed improvement and we believe we did that with bringing in a guy like Rory". Helper brings with him Grit and defense no doubt, but he also has a scoring touch that makes him one of the leagues top two way forwards. Both Coburn and Holmstrom are expected to be excellent hockey players, and will no doubt contribute to a cup in Det when their time comes. But this team is in win now mode, and Helper should be a key piece in making that happen.
